Marjoram (Origanum majorana) is an aromatic herb in the mint
family which originated in Egypt and Arabia. It is also widely
referred to as Oregano. Old-sensitive perennial herb or under
shrub with sweet pine and citrus flavors.
Leaves are smooth, simple, petiolated, ovate to oblong-ovate, 0.5–
1.5 cm (0.2–0.6 inches) long, 0.2–0.8 cm (0.1–0.3 inches) wide, with
obtuse apex, entire margin, symmetrical but tapering base, and
reticulate venation. The texture is extremely smooth due to the
presence of numerous hairs.

usually cut as they start to flower and are best dried slowly in full shade. The herb has what are
described as a blend of sweet pine and citrus flavors. Marjoram is frequently used in herb blends
such as herbs de Provence Height.
Marjoram usually grows to a height of 24 to 36 inches (60 - 90cm).
Plants should be spaced between 15 and 18 inches (38 - 45 cm) apart.
Marjoram will grow in a relatively wide pH range between 6.1 (mildly acidic) and 8.5 (alkaline) with
a preferred range between 6.5 and 7.5. Probogate through root ball division.
